Truvada – Precautions, Benefits and Side effects


What is Truvada
Truvada is an anti-HIV medication. Truvada is made by Gilead Science,INC. It prevents HIV from altering the genetic material of healthy T-CELLS. It was approved by the U.S. FOOD and Drug administration (FDA) for use by people living with HIV in August 2004. It is in a category of HIV medicines which is called nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhabitors(NRTIs). It is a combination of two drugs, 300mg of Viread and 200mg of Emtriva. Vi read and Emtriva can be purchased individually for use in combination with other anti-HIV drugs.
The Vi read and the Emtriva in turvada are active against the hepatitis B virus(HVI),the virus responsible for causing hepatitis B. Some doctors prescribe Truvada to treat hepatitis B and HIV. Truvada can still be purchased for use in combination with
anti-HIV drugs other than Sustiva. It works by tricking reverse transcriptase into thinking it is one of these molecular building-blocks. However, it is different when used to create DNA. It is actually stops the DNA from being made. Without DNA, HIV cannot multiply.
This medication isn’t a cure for HIV. It helps to stop HIV from infecting healthy cells in the body, but it doesn’t help cells that have already been infected. It is not yet known the result of overdose of Truvada.

Warning and Precautions

  • Keep the tables in an airtight containers. Keep Truvada and all other medications out of the reach of children. It can interact with a number of other medication.
  • It is not approved for to be used by young people.
  • There are currently no Truvada uses approved for children. Truvada is not intended to be used without medical attention. Instead,it is used
    as part of an HIV medication. Tenofovir and Emtricitabin are two medication which work similarly to block a process that the HIV virus
    needs in order to multiply.
  • The effects of a Truvada overdose varies, depending on a number of factors, including its dosage and whether it is taken with any other medicines, alcohol, food or street drugs.
  • There drugs are from two different classes of HIV medicines in Truvada. It can be used off-label to prevent HIV infection in people
    exposed to the virus
  • If you happen to take too much dose, immediate medical attention is advised. It should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

Benefits and Risks

Talk with the children’s healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using the drug in children. also extend to human being who have liver or kidney disease,osteoporosis,or any allerges. It is caused by damage to the liver and can be very dangerous. It can decrease bone density,which increases the risk of osteoporosis and broken bones. Truvada can interact with a number of different medications. It is possible that not all the warnings or precautions were discussed in this article. Side effects of truvada:-

  • According to clinical studies truvada side effects are:-nausea,dizziness,diarrhea and fatigue.
  • In most cases side effects are minor and easily treated.
  • Some serious side effects of truvada,such as high cholesterol or triglycerides, kidney problems, changes in body fat distribution or
  • allergic reactions.
  • Other common side effects are:-vomiting,sinus infection,drowsiness,abnormal dreams.
  • Some side effects which are include but are not limited to:-depression,decreased bone density,kidney problem,worsening of hepatitis B.
  • Common side effects persist or become bothersome when using truvada:-abnormal skin sensations,backpain,cough,gas,headache,nausea,weakness,weight loss,vomiting,sweating.
